MOT Testing.
Is your MOT due? Book it in — we'll talk you through every result, clearly and honestly.

Every car over three years old needs an annual MOT to stay legal on the road. We carry out Class 4 MOT testing in-house with approved testers — no waiting weeks for an appointment.
If anything needs attention, we'll explain what's wrong clearly and give you an honest quote. No pressure, no upselling — just the facts so you can make an informed decision.
We also offer pre-MOT inspections so you can catch potential failures before the test, saving you time and money on retests.
Signs it's due.
Your certificate expires within a month
You can test up to a month (minus a day) early and keep the same renewal date — booking ahead means any repairs happen calmly, not against a deadline.
A dashboard warning light is on
Engine management, airbag and ABS lights are checked in the test. Getting the fault read before the MOT turns a guaranteed fail into a fixable job.
Tyres look low on tread
1.6mm across the central three-quarters is the legal minimum, and testers measure it. Borderline tyres are cheaper to sort before the test than after a fail.
Wipers, washers or bulbs aren't right
The small stuff fails MOTs every day — a smeared screen, an empty washer bottle, a blown number-plate bulb. Two minutes on the drive saves a re-test.
Caught one of these early? It's almost always a smaller bill. Call 01782 52 22 22 and we'll take a look.
The Knypersley difference.
Approved MOT testers with decades of experience
Same-day or next-day appointments usually available
Clear explanation of every advisory and failure
No-obligation quotes on any repair work needed
Asked before booking.
How early can I book without losing my renewal date?
Up to a month (minus a day) before your current certificate expires. The new certificate runs from the old expiry date, not the test date, so testing early costs you nothing.
If it fails, is the re-test free?
If we carry out the repairs, we re-test the items we've fixed at no extra charge. You'll get a clear quote before any repair work starts — nothing is done without your say-so.
What vehicles does a Class 4 MOT cover?
Cars, taxis, small vans and motorhomes up to 3,000kg — effectively every ordinary passenger vehicle. If you're not sure which class your vehicle needs, call us with the registration and we'll check.
Do advisories mean the car is unsafe?
No — an advisory is the tester flagging wear worth watching before next year. We'll show you each one on the vehicle and tell you honestly which need action soon and which can wait.
Knypersley Garage is based on Tunstall Road, just minutes from Biddulph MOT centre. Free customer parking on site and courtesy drop-offs by arrangement — easy for drivers across Biddulph, Knypersley, Tunstall and Kidsgrove.
