Worn suspension and steering components affect how your car handles, how your tyres wear, and ultimately your safety. If you're noticing knocking noises, uneven tyre wear, or the car pulling to one side, it's worth getting checked.
We inspect and replace shock absorbers, springs, drop links, anti-roll bar bushes, track rod ends, and power steering components. We also carry out wheel alignment and tracking to make sure everything's set correctly after repairs.

Knocking or clunking over potholes
Usually a worn drop link, anti-roll bar bush or ball joint. The lanes around here are hard on all three — it's one of the most common advisories we see.
Tyres wearing unevenly
Wear concentrated on one edge points at suspension geometry or worn components, not the tyre. New tyres without fixing the cause just wear the same way.
The steering feels vague or wanders
Play in track rod ends or worn bushes makes a car feel loose on the road and is an MOT failure when it crosses the line.
The car bounces or nose-dives
Shock absorbers wear so gradually you adapt without noticing. If the car keeps bouncing after a bump or dips hard under braking, they're past their best.

Is a knocking noise dangerous?
It shouldn't be ignored. The usual culprits — drop links, bushes, ball joints — start as a noise and end as an MOT failure, and a ball joint that separates entirely means losing control of that wheel. A check is quick and tells you honestly how urgent it is.
Why do coil springs snap?
Corrosion plus potholes. A snapped spring often announces itself with a bang and a lopsided sit, and it's an immediate MOT failure. We see more of them in winter and on cars that live outside.
How do I know if my shock absorbers are worn?
Gradually worsening ride, bouncing after bumps, nose-diving under braking and uneven tyre wear. Because the decline is slow you stop noticing — it's usually most obvious the day after they're replaced.
Should I get wheel alignment after suspension work?
If the work touched anything that locates a wheel — springs, track rods, wishbones — yes, alignment afterwards protects your new parts and your tyres. We'll tell you when it's needed and when it isn't.
